Project Educate
Who we are.
An indigenous non-profit, non-governmental organization designed to help improve educational standards and infrastructure in Zambia. We put the emphasis on education because it is empowering; it gives people the knowledge, skill and attitude to become active and productive members of their communities. Education is thus an indispensable component to development.
What we do.
We work with communities to identify challenges to development and curate interventions that address these challenges in the context in which they exist. Recognizing that communities have agency and therefore play a central role in fostering change.
Youth Media +(260)
Uses digital media to engage young people in becoming positive agents for social change through the provision of digital media training and the creation of socially conscious media. The initiative includes a podcast series for young people by young people addressing issues that are important to young people. The issues they tackle include climate justice, gender , sexual reproductive health as well as youth participation. Youth Media +(260) focuses on providing young people with tools for for self-actualization and self-expression.
Woman Connect
Works to support and promote the empowerment of women and girls. In addition to providing training and support to women and girls, Woman CONNECT seeks to provide beneficiaries with a safe space to connect with their peers at the local level as well as connect with their counterparts from around the World. Through the initiative women can engage with one another to build the change they want in their communities.
Woman CONNECT provides business and financial training to entrepreneurs in rural remote areas to help address the issue of poor management often encountered in projects of this nature.
It is envisioned that each site will become self-managing with within 5 years of establishment. Upon completion of training, participants will be eligible to receive either capital or capacity building funding in the form of a loan.
Value addition focusing on agro-forestry products to improve food security, incomes and standard of living.
Initiatives
Conservation Nation
raise awareness about the importance or environmental conservation and the role individuals and communities have to play in it.
Conservation Nation engages local leaders to actively consider the environment in decision-making. Conservation Nation further works with communities to explore and implement practical solutions to the challenge of environmental degradation and climate change.
Future Promise
Improves access to higher education for brilliant but underprivileged students.
The initiative provides college admissions support to a select group of students in the top 10 percentile of their class and have exhibited an interest in giving
back to the local and global community. Future Promise covers student fees to sit for college admissions examinations as well as college application fees.
In addition to examination and application fees, Future Promise also provides free tuition for participating candidates as a way of helping to prepare them for college entrance exams. During the course of the initiative students undertake a series of community projects which include but are not limited to gender equity, youth empowerment environment and climate change, access to education, technology, and global infectious disease
